A selection of the opportunities available this week through Volunteer Centre Dacorum.

Would you like to make a difference to future generations in Highfield, Hemel Hempstead?

Why not join Yewtree primary school as a school governor?

In this role you will have the chance to create opportunities and be part of an exciting future.

The governing body meets twice every half term in the evenings to discuss the strategic direction of the school, celebrate the successes and support the school in moving forward.

This is a school community that offers great opportunities and the best start in education for future generations.

The right volunteer will have a real interest in improving the school together with the ability to read documents and discuss and debate issues. An understanding of finance and or buildings would be most useful.

The Hospice of St Francis needs new volunteers to help in the central distribution centre and e-commerce department which is based in Northbridge Road, Berkhamsted.

As a volunteer sorter, you would spend a few hours each week on a variety of tasks that could include checking out games and puzzles to make sure they’re complete, sorting and tagging donations or dealing with donated fashion items and bric a brac.

They also need a volunteer who is qualified to carry out PAT testing of donated electrical items.

Both roles involve a lot of moving and handling so a reasonable level of fitness is required.

Do you love Ebay? Why not use your skills to make money for this hospice charity.

Attention to detail and a good standard of written English are the qualities needed by an Ebay volunteer.

Knowledge of fashion, books or bric a brac would also be useful.

If you have a few hours to spare each week and would like to be part of a dynamic and sociable team, this could be the role for you.
