Fundraisers from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution were out in force in Daventry town centre on Friday and Saturday, receiving £879.94 from local shoppers.
The charity, which is entirely funded by donations, is dedicated to maintaining a fleet of 340 lifeboats, with more than 4,700 volunteer lifeboat crew members.
Jeff Sutherland-Kay, chair of the RNLI’s Northampton branch, said “We hold a town centre flag day every year about this time and we always get a great reception from the people of Daventry. It was a great result and brings the total donated at our Daventry events this year to £2,153 and our overall net total for 2014 to more than £21,000.”
Evergreen Art Café in Sheaf Street again hosted the RNLI headquarters for the flag collection.
