THE Flamstead Sports & Social Club has been wound up with debts of almost £27,000.

At the annual general meeting of the club, which ran football and cricket teams, on September 22 it was decided it would close at the end of this month.

Minutes of the meeting show that despite efforts being made since June, no-one has come forward to keep the club going.

“Despite the best efforts of the committee and particularly the club steward, the accounts demonstrated that it had not been possible to generate sufficient funds to keep the club going and no one individual or group had come forward to fund its survival,” say the minutes.
