An open day at the Royal Mail’s huge Home Counties North centre on Hemel Hempstead’s Maylands industrial estate is set to deliver a whopping £9,000 for charity.
The centre opened its doors to employees’ families and the general public on April 1 to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
Centre manager Neil Malloy said: “Although we are still reviewing the amount raised, when we combine the amount with that of the ‘matched giving’ scheme run by Royal Mail, it looks like we will have raised in the order of £9,000. Overall, the event was a great success.”
The funds are set to pay for the recruitment and training of three specialist prostate cancer nurses.
