Winners of council grants to help start-up businesses collected their giant cheques at an official presentation on Friday (October 4).
The Dacorum’s Den competition involved new businesses pitching their ideas to a panel of judges in the style of the Dragon’s Den TV show.
The idea behind the Dacorum Borough Council scheme was to use money to help create wealth in the local economy.
Twelve businesses, ranging from family mediation service Green Light Mediation to Divine Trees, who deal in wigs, including for cancer sufferers.
Two of the winners have won extra cash. Sunnyside Rural Trust, who picked up £1,700 to help people with learning disabilities through horticulture, and Wicks Ice Cream, who picked up £2,000, not only for the business idea but for its business plan.
