ONE up-and-coming band will have the chance to play in front of a crowd of thousands.
Tring company Grass Roots has had nine entries into its Play Live competition and has more coming in.
The competition allows musicians under 25 years old to submit videos of their performances on website YouTube.
It closes on Sunday, May 1, and the number of hits the video gets and a judging panel will determine which band wins the chance to play three songs to open the Spirit of Tring on Saturday, June 4.
The entertainment extravaganza kicks off the three-part Tring Summer Festival and will feature Mamma Mia – The Music of ABBA.
Grass Roots has sold more than 3,000 tickets across the weekend so far, which starts with The Great British Proms on Friday, June 3.
The night has been boosted by the booking of a spitfire, which will be choreographed to perform while the English National Orchestra plays.
The iconic plane – one of only 27 airworthy spitfires in the UK – will be flown by pilot Charlie Brown.
