A selection of the opportunities available this week through Volunteer Centre Dacorum.

Age UK Dacorum

Would you like to help at a new fun and stimulating club for older people with mild to moderate memory problems in Tring or Berkhamsted?

If you enjoy the company of older people, are friendly, fun loving, caring and kind and can spare some time on Thursdays, this could be the volunteering role for you.

No specialist skills are needed but if you can help club members to feel welcome and at ease, make the tea and assist with clearing up then Age UK Dacorum would love to hear from you.

The club runs on Thursdays in the Kings Road Church Hall from 9.45am until 3.15pm and volunteers can stay for either the whole session or part of the time. If you could also help with transporting members to and from the club that would be a real bonus.

This home-grown charity is also looking to match volunteer befrienders with elderly people looking for companionship in Markyate, Bovingdon and Chipperfield.

Volunteer Centre Dacorum

If you would like to do something to support your community but don’t know what, why not come along to Volunteer Centre Decorum’s first ever fundraising curry night?

The centre is teaming up with award winning restaurant Sitar in Boxmoor to hold a fun event that will help this home-grown charity continue its good work.

Volunteer Centre Dacorum has been supporting other charities and community groups for more than 40 years.

It supports more than 470 other local groups, helping them find the volunteers they need to keep vital services running.

During the last decade the centre has helped more than 10,700 people of all ages, abilities and walks of life to become volunteers.

Hemel Hempstead-based Hope For Children has achieved the Valuing Volunteer Management 6 Point Promise administered by the Volunteer Centre.

Pictured is events and volunteer manager Rachel Simkin receiving the certificate.

Other organisations who have recently gained the award include Mencap’s SNAP play scheme for children with a learning disability and the Box Moor Trust.
