DRUG abuse at a youth skate park is becoming harder to tackle due to “reduced” police resources, a report claims.
The Gazette reported two weeks ago that the Canal Fields venue in Berkhamsted has become a hang-out for teenage drug-users.
They use it to sniff aerosol cans, take other drugs, smoke and drink booze, a meeting of Berkhamsted Youth Town Council had heard.
Now police worker Steve Patton says: “Tackling underage drinking in the area of Canal Fields is complex and with reduced resources in the police, it is becoming harder to manage.”
He said he patrols Canal Fields every night he is on duty and often stays there for up to 20 minutes at a time at weekends.
