Crowds turn out for Kings Langley Christmas Festival

Encouraged by the dry weather, thousands of people turned out for the annual Kings Langley Christmas Festival on Saturday.

There were performances from local groups including the Kings Langley Community Choir, Kings Langley Primary School and its orchestra and the Kings Langley Players, which performed part of its Beauty and the Beast pantomime.

Loretta Anderson from the charity Community Action Dacorum, which organised the event, said: “It is all really local children and local people performing so you get big crowds of family and friends coming out to see them on stage.”

Radio Dacorum broadcast live and uninterrupted throughout the festival, thanks to an online link-up provided by Oscars Pizza Company in High Street.

Like other Christmas events organised by Community Action Dacorum, it is a chance for charities to fundraise and let people know more about what they do.

Loretta said: “People are very generous to the charities all year round, not just at these events.

“Not only do these events raise them money but it is good for their profile to be out on the streets talking to people - they really enjoy that side of it.”
