Animal lovers could win their very own doggy treat thanks to a barking mad competition run by Hemel Hempstead’s Riverside Shopping Centre.

In little more than two weeks the town centre mall welcomes four-time Crufts champion Richard Curtis and his band of dancing dogs for a special performance – and you could be his glamorous assistant.

Two lucky shoppers will win the opportunity to perform with the expert dog trainer during the shows on Saturday, July 26.

A spokesman for the shopping centre said: “Famed internationally for elaborate and quirky dance routines featuring him and his canine partners, Richard is looking for two human helpers for the day – and one of them could be you!”

Richard will be performing twice throughout the day, at midday and 2pm, showing off elaborate heelwork to music and freestyle canine dance routines, as well as tricks with tennis balls.

To enter the competition, simply post your name, age, postcode, email address and telephone number– along with your preferred performance time– in an envelope to the postbox located between the bridges at Riverside. Alternatively , email the same details to promotions@riversidehemel.com.

All entries must be received by Wednesday, July 23 and entrants must be available to take part the following Saturday.

Royalty of the canine world will even be present on the day, as Britain’s Got Talent Pudsey lookalike and current Crufts champion Whizzy will be taking centre stage.

Whizzy will be performing dynamic freestyle and heelwork to music routines, just like the real Pudsey and Ashleigh when they swept to victory in the 2012 series of the TV talent show.
