Hikers prepare for the Berkhamsted Walk

The latest fundraising Berkhamsted Walk is now less than three weeks away – and the training has already begun.

The sponsored annual hike has raised more than £275,000 for charity The Children’s Society since it was launched 46 years ago.

There are six, 12 and 18-mile routes for people to take on during this year’s event on Sunday, May 11.

The two longer walks begin at the Court House, which is next to St Peter’s Church in Berkhamsted High Street. The shorter one begins at Ashridge House.

Last year’s walks attracted more than 200 hikers, who raised more than £6,500 for the good cause.

Organiser Ann Browning said: “It’s about having the freedom to enjoy the countryside - but not get lost, and to have refreshments every three miles at the checkpoints.”

The three routes are entirely waymarked and you can find out more by clicking here
