POPPY appeal collector John Bowman was among a host of long-serving volunteers who were handed awards for their dedication to the job they do every year.
About 20 donation collectors, who have volunteered for five to 35 years, were recognised for their work during an event attended by about 40 people at The Red Cross Hall in Tring on Saturday, March 31.
Tring Women’s Institute provided refreshments while presentations were done by Sue Rose - the county co-ordinator for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Longest serving volunteer John, 86, who has collected donations in Tring every year for 35 years, said: “I’m so proud of everyone who collects including the cadets in Dacorum and all the women.
The Tring-born former Royal Engineer, of Langdon Street added: “I’m pleased to get the award, it does show appreciation.”
