TREASURE hunters have found a coin that dates back 1,800 years, a .50 caliber Ameircan aircraft machine gun bullet and an Anglo Saxon ring.
They were found during digs organised by Berkhamsted High Street-based The Metal Detectors, owners of the shop Hidden History.
The Celtic gold stater – a coin of the Atrebates tribe and dating back about 1,800 years ago – was found in Berkshire last month.
Mark Becher, who runs the firm with partner David Sewell, said: “I have never found one in 20 years of doing this and I would love to.”
The Anglo Saxon twisted-wire finger ring was found in the Berkhamsted area in January – and could be treasure trove.
The bullet was found in Hampshire about three weeks ago, and a golden quarter noble coin from the Edward III’s era in Berkhamsted last month.
Mr Becher said: “It was a beautiful, beautiful coin to find, the find of a lifetime.”
