Dacorum Mayor Allan Lawson led the ceremony in Hemel Hempstead, which saw the flag raised at 10am.

A special message of good wishes from The Queen was read out, followed by a message from The Commonwealth secretary-general and Mr Lawson then read the Commonwealth Affirmation.

The Commonwealth is a voluntary association of 53 sovereign states.
