A PUB will host a fundraiser to raise cash for a nurse who cared for one of its punters.
Karen Gooding, 45, has organised the evening event in memory of her husband Billy, who was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in June 2009, and died just nine months later aged 56.
Hospice of St Francis nurse Judy Hepper, who has been a home care nurse with the Berkhamsted-based charity for six years, helped look after Billy in his final days.
When she approached the family for sponsorship to back an 11-day Himalayan trek she is undertaking for the hospice, Karen, of Thumpers, Hemel Hempstead, decided to go the extra mile.
The fundraiser is being held at The Stag in Fletcher Way from 7.30pm. There will be a barbecue, karaoke and tombola.
Sponsorship pledges can be made online at www.justgiving.com/Judy-Hepper
