Gunning for his football heroes from the sidelines

A LAD from Tring walked out on to the pitch with his favourite team when he was chosen to be their mascot for a Premiership game.

Thomas Jarvis, nine, a pupil at Bishop Wood School, was an Arsenal mascot when the famous Gunners took on Bolton Wanderers.

Thomas, a Junior Gunner at the club, was chosen at random from thousands to be a mascot during the game at the Reebok Stadium.

He was able to walk out on the pitch with some of his footballing heroes before the game, and picked up autographs and a new Aresnal kit.

He said: “I can’t believe I was chosen. There are thousands of kids who are Junior Gunners and it’s a dream come true to be the club’s mascot. To meet Robin van Persie too was just brilliant.”

The Dutch star, who scored Arsenal’s goal during although his side was beaten 2-1 on the day, walked out the youngster on to the pitch and said: “It was great to meet Thomas at the Reebok Stadium.

“Of course we know he would have been disappointed with the result, but I hope he had a memorable day.”
