Hall’s parking trouble remains after a year

NO action has been taken to tackle a parking trouble spot at Boxmoor Hall nearly a year after cash was set aside for the work.

Council bosses earmarked nearly £11,000 last May to introduce measures to stop commuters and other drivers hogging the unregulated bay outside the hall, making life difficult for users of the venue.

Work discussed at the time involved extending the K residents parking zone to include the bay at the tip of St John’s Road, with a pay and display option.

Sally Ilsley, boss of Boxmoor Hall, is calling for a two-hour time limit on the bay.

“It has got really nasty out there,” she said. “It should be a maximum stay of two hours.

“We don’t need complicated parking schemes and pay and display.

“Fingers crossed there will be a practical solution to that.”

In a statement Dacorum Borough Council said: “We are waiting for approval, in a portfolio holder decision, to move forward and consult on extending the K parking zone to include restrictions to alleviate the parking issues in this part of Boxmoor.”

Weddings, christenings, training courses and performing arts take place at the hall, which has been run by Sally for five years since she bought it from the council.
