LIONS will be out in force on Friday to raise awareness of diabetes.
The Hemel Hempstead Lions Club is organising a free diabetes screening test.
A nurse will be on-hand at the Volunteer Centre from 10am to 3pm to give people a prick on the finger and tell them immediate results.
Volunteer Dianne Crook said early detection is vital for people who have the condition, caused by a shortage of or resistance to insulin in the blood.
There are 500,000 people in the UK who do not know they are diabetic.
