A MIDWIFE has launched antenatal classes for mums and dads-to-be after spotting a gap in the market.
Melissa Daniels, who is herself a mother of two, held the first one-day course on Sunday.
Some pregnant ladies are no longer offered free classes to prepare for the birth of their child under the NHS.
“They are missing out on a lot of vital information,” said Melissa, 33, pictured with mums to be Nicola Howes and Jo McGuire.
“When you go to classes you meet a lot of other mums but you also prepare for what to expect in labour.
“When you are pregnant it is quite frightening. You have this labour looming over you and, like most things in life, forewarned is forearmed. If you know what is going to happen it is not so frightening.”
The one day sessions, costing £15, are held at the Orchard Children’s Centre in the grounds of Dundale School, Silk Mill Way, Tring.
The next class will be held on on Sunday, July 24.
The centre offers services for families with children aged up to five years old.
To book call the centre on 01442 426922.
