Home Start needs volunteers

PARENTS are needed to help other mums and dads facing tough times.

Home Start is a good cause that helps families with pre-school children who for a variety of reasons feel that they are unable to cope with the stresses of family life.

Helpers are needed who can spare a few hours each week to visit a family in their own home.

All volunteers are given comprehensive training with the next course starting on Tuesday, April 17 and taking place on each Tuesday morning for 12 weeks from 9.30am to 1pm in Berkhamsted.

This does not include half term week.

> Someone with the ability to see the big picture is needed to help oversee the running of Home Start, which is on the hunt for a trustee who will be responsible for ensuring resources are used effectively and that all legal and regulatory requirements are met.

The charity is looking for someone who is interested in a treasurer role at the moment but would also consider the position of chairman in the future.

> Drivers are needed to ferry families to and from a weekly family group on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The sessions run from 10am to midday during term time only, with families from all over Hemel Hempstead attending.

Its get-togethers offer support for parents of small children, alongside fun, games and crafts for under fives.

Volunteers must be parents themselves, have their own car and a clean driving licence.
