The former home of Lady Katherine Ferrers – believed to have been the Wicked Lady highwayman before dying aged 26 in 1660 – failed to sell at an auction on Thursday.

The Markyate Cell mansion had been put on the market for offers of about £4.25m by Allsop during the event in London last Thursday.
