A Nash Mills ski instructor has now made it to the final of a national beauty contest.

Charlotte Mellish, 20, of Chambersbury Lane, entered Miss Hertfordshire and got into the top 12, but lost in the finals to Borehamwood’s Charlotte White.

However, she was entered into the grand final of Miss International UK – and will now compete against 49 others for the title on Sunday, July 13.

The former pupil of Longdean School in Bennetts End will represent Herts during the event at Manchester Palace, competing in three catwalks and an interview.

She will have to wear a ball gown for the first ‘evening wear’ round, party clothes for a second fashion round and a bikini for the third.

About 200 people will watch her as she strides down the runway.

She said: “You have to not really think about who’s actually out there and just think about what you are doing, not who’s judging you.”

She will also have to wear high-heel stilettos that are about seven inches long.

Charlotte, who works at Hemel Hempstead’s The Snow Centre, said: “I worry continually about falling over in them, but it is easier if you do not think about it.

“If you think you are going to trip up, you are more likely to do it.”

She will have to answer questions about herself and why she wants to win during an interview round – the part of the process that she is most nervous about.

But she said: “I am over the moon and could not be more excited to be in this contest.”

She is being sponsored

She is being sponsored by Meisha PT and hopes to get further sponsorship from Richard Brown Hair and easyJet.
