Furniture giant IKEA has issued a warning over a component defect in some of its dishwasher models.
The problem can lead the dishwasher to stop working or an error message to appear on the display.
The problem affects appliances bought in 2014 or 2015 - IKEA has sold approximately 380 000 dishwashers globally which could be affected by this component fault, although the company point out that only a percentage of these customers will experience a problem with the cleaning performance of their dishwasher, due to variations in customer usage.
Customers in the UK who believe that their appliance may be affected can visit the IKEA website where by entering their article number (PNC) and serial number (SN) they can establish if their dishwasher requires a service.
The company describes the fault as a “quality defect”, saying that there is no safety risk and customers can continue to use the machine until the service has been performed.
A company spokesperson said: “The reason for this notice is that we have identified that a component in some of our dishwashers does not meet our high-quality standards.
“The component has been replaced in all of our models sold today, but we ask those customers who bought a dishwasher during 2014 or 2015 to check if their dishwasher is affected by visiting our website and filling in the web form.
“As quality and customer service are top priorities for us, we want to take care of this issue by providing a service to those who are affected.
“We thank you for your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
