It’s time to have your say on proposed new school for Highfield

People can now have their say on plans for a new school to meet the growing number of children in the area.

The people behind Hemel Hempstead Community Free School, which will be based in Highfield, have opened their plans up for consultation.

Various events are being held too where people can find out more and there is the opportunity to visit an already existing free school in Hatfield.

An open morning will be held at Hatfield Community School on Wednesday, September 25 from 10am to 1pm and an evening event will be held on Monday, October 14 from 6pm to 8pm To book a place email .

More information will also be on offer at West Herts College, Hempstead Road, Watford, on Saturday, September 21 from 10am to midday. A Hemel Hempstead-based event is planned for Wednesday, October 2 but the location has not yet been confirmed.

West Herts Community Free Schools Trust has been given the go ahead by government education chiefs to open a new school on the site of closed Jupiter Drive Primary. This school was controversially closed by county chiefs in 2008 because of dwindling numbers of children but today a shortfall of pupil places have been identified.
