Name of organisation:
Berkhamsted Gymnastics Club
To provide quality gymnastics and trampolining classes for both boys and girls from pre-school age to adults in a safe and friendly environment. We also allow children the opportunity to fulfil their full potential within the sport by running successful competitive squads.
Where do you meet and how often?
We have our own dedicated gymnastic facility in the grounds of Ashlyns School, Chesham Road, Berkhamsted. Open from 4pm on weekdays for recreational gymnastics and trampolining classes for children of all ages and abilities, with pre-school classes on Saturday mornings and Sundays being dedicated to gymnastics parties. Competition squad gymnasts train from 1.5 per week up to 20 hours depending on age and ability.
What sort of people are your members?
Our youngest member is 21/2 and our eldest members are in their 40s.
If someone was considering membership, what would you say to them to convince them to sign up?
Gymnastics is a wonderful sport, it’s fun but demands determination and courage. It is one of the best sports a child can participate in, it also helps children excel in other sports either alongside gymnastics or in the future.
Gymnastics builds on the fundamentals – agility, balance, co-ordination, strength and flexibility. It is a fun way for adults and children of any age and abilities to keep fit and flexible, whilst challenging them both physically and mentally.
Competitive gymnastics is taking it that one step further. It encourages discipline, positivity, determination, courage, maturity and much more.
Please give us an idea of recent activities and plans for the future
Children attending our recreational gymnastics classes have been working towards and achieving BGC levels badges and certificates. Our trampolinists and pre-schoolers have been achieving the British Gymnastics badges and certificates. Our women’s artistic squad members have been passing National Development Plan gradings and Hertfordshire gradings while winning medals at county, regional and national level competitions. We run multi-activity camps and short courses during the summer holidays.
What sort of costs are involved in membership?
Term fees are payable on joining with an annual membership/insurance fee to the British Gymnastics. We do offer a two week trial for all our child classes.
