The years may be advancing but these green fingered householders have no intention of slowing down when it comes to getting stuck in to gardening.
Those living at Northchurch sheltered housing complex Shaftesbury Court in Valley Road are seeing their hard work through the winter pay off as they enjoy an explosion of colourful blooms.
Elizabeth La-Chenal, who recently completed a fundraising walk in aid of Save the Children raising almost £900, said: “There’s plenty of life left in us.
“We are so lucky to have some clever gardeners here. Ella Goff is over 100 years old and loves her garden. She says it keeps her going.”
Elizabeth, 82, admits she’s more hit and miss but makes up for it with her eye for colour. “I don’t know anything about gardening, I just know about colours and co-ordination,” she said.
