FORMER Cabinet minister Lord Cecil Parkinson is just one of the guests expected at a bash to celebrate a Rotary milestone.
The invite-only function at Dean’s Hall, Berkhamsted School, Castle Street, marks the 75th year of Berkhamsted Rotary Club and 25th of Berkhamsted Bulbourne Rotary Club.
The Berkhamsted club’s official launch on October 16, 1936, was attended by nearly 200 people.
In the Second World War, members raised £200 for Mrs Churchill’s Aid to Russia Fund and in 1961 helped fund a Hemel Hempstead Blind Centre in Two Waters Road.
Then it launched Berkhamsted’s yearly half marathon for charity in 1982. Last year the 61-member club made £40,000 for good causes.
