A GOOD cause that helps troubled families is bringing its help to Hemel Hempstead thanks to a lottery grant.

Herts Young Homeless Group is using £388,000 awarded by the Big Lottery Fund to employ more staff and expand its mediation programme to areas where it was previously unavailable.

The free and confidential service focuses on conflict resolution within families with young people aged 10 to 16 years old.

It includes sessions that are designed to address the causes of conflicts and rebuild strained relationships.

Through this mediation it is hoped that young people will feel able to live at home for longer, reducing teenage homelessness.

Holly Chilton, from the charity, said: “We’re delighted to have received the funding. It will help us expand our services to young people in whole new areas of Hertfordshire”
