Magistrates put the bite on Hemel Hempstead tooth whitener who worked without a licence

A man who pleaded guilty to illegally practicing dentistry in a Hemel Hempstead clinic has been ordered to pay out more than £1,000.

Jason Edworthy, of the Beta Clinic in Marlowes, appeared at Milton Keynes Magistrates Court on Friday charged with unlawfully practicing tooth whitening.

He was prosecuted by the General Dental Council for the incidents – which also took place in Middlesex – and was ordered to pay a £250 fine, £25 victim surcharge and full costs of £897.82.

Magistrates said: “We note that you have never been registered as a dentist, however we also note that since August 1, 2013, when you realised that tooth whitening was illegal, you have not provided any further treatment.”
