A woman suspected of pushing a 52-year-old mum over and then punching her in the face in a row about a parking space has been bailed by police.

She was arrested late on Monday morning after an appeal on the Everything Berko Facebook page by the victim’s daughter identified her as a potential suspect.

The attack happened outside of the 52-year-old’s house near Tesco Express, Northchurch High Street, at about 6.10pm on Sunday.

Police released the 42-year-old woman hours after she was arrested on Monday, and she is now on bail until Saturday, July 12.

Officers will speak to witnesses and conduct further investigations in the meantime.

Spokesman Giles Cooper said: “There was an altercation, which was reportedly over a parking dispute, between two women and it is alleged one woman assaulted the other.

“Anyone with information in relation to the incident should contact Hertfordshire Constabulary on 101, citing crime reference D2/14/377.

“Alternatively call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

The victim – who is blind in one eye – was left with a cut lip, bleeding around her mouth and smashed glasses after the assault. She will not be able to see until her glasses are fixed.
