The new organisation that will have responsibility for health services in Herts will be meeting in public for the first time on Thursday.
Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group (CGC) will take over the job of commissioning health services from Herts Primary Care Trust in April next year.
The group, which includes GP practices from Dacorum, will meet at 2.30pm on Thursday, September 6, at The Stanborough Centre, St Albans Road, Watford.
Chairman Dr Nicolas Small said: “We are looking forward to welcoming observers at our meeting on September 6 and to our subsequent monthly meetings.
“I think people will be interested to learn more about the way decisions are taken and the discussions that take place before those decisions are reached.
“It is really important that our CCG is open and honest about our commissioning decisions and holding our meetings in public is one way of doing this.
“A meeting in public means that people can come along to observe, rather than to participate in the way that they would if it were a public meeting.
“We hope that attending a board meeting in public may encourage more local people to get more involved with us. We need people with all sorts of skills who can give a small amount of time to do things like read and comment on information, look at data or join a group. The only qualification needed is to have a real interest in local health services.”
