There will be celebrations on Saturday at a shop that is celebrating its third birthday – and having raised £285,000 for charity since it opened.

There will be refreshments, a tombola and all clothes will be half price for the day at the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home store in Henry Wells Square, Grovehill.

It has raised enough to fund nine nurses for a year since it first opened its doors on Saturday, May 3, 2011.

Manager Kim Ramdial said: “We’d love local residents to come and join us because it’s thanks to them that this shop has been such a success.

“It’s thanks to the local community that we’ve been able to make such a difference to local families affected by cancer and other life-limiting illness.”

The shop’s success is down to the good quality donations it receives to sell on, its 20 volunteers who give up their time, and its loyal customers.
