A selection of the opportunities available this week through Volunteer Centre Dacorum.
Could you spare a little of your time to help at the Oxfam shop in Berkhamsted?
Volunteer shops assistants are urgently needed for Fridays and Saturdays.
The role involves sorting and pricing donated items as well as serving in the shop.
The shop also has a stock of beautiful hand crafted linens and lacework and need a volunteer with experience of this ‘white work’ to sort and prepare it for sale.
All money raised in Oxfam’s shops helps to pay for their emergency and development work.
Last year, the charity ran 47 emergency responses in 31 countries, providing vital support in desperate conditions, from clean water to life-saving lessons in public hygiene.
Any help you could offer, even short term would be great. Volunteers should be 14 or over.
Home-grown charity Age UK Dacorum needs owner drivers to brighten up the lives of elderly and lonely people.
The charity runs monthly friendship tea groups in Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley, Berkhamsted and Tring. The role involves collecting club members from their homes and bringing them along for afternoon tea and a chance to socialise and then take them home again afterwards.
You would be welcome to stay and join in but this isn’t essential.
This is an ideal role for those with a clean driving licence, wanting to make a real difference to someone’s life.
Make a difference to blind and partially sighted people in your community by making regular collections of money donated into RNIB’s Sooty boxes from shops, pubs and leisure centres. The sooner the money is received by the charity, the sooner it can be put to good use offering support and advice to almost two million people with sight loss.
Last year more than £700,000 was raised in small change alone.
Volunteers should be 18 or over, have good organisational and planning skills and, ideally, use of a car.
