A Tring restaurant chain will be hoping for a slice of the action after it was named as a National Pizza Awards finalist.
Oakman Inns, which is headquartered in Tring, will vie with 15 other pizza restaurants across the UK for a coveted prize.
Its team is hoping their pizza recipe, using slow-proved dough and traditional Neapolitan ingredients, wins at yeast one of the awards.
Flying the flag for Oakman is chef Alex Balan, who will be cooking a spicy Napoli Forte with nduja sausage.
The judging panel of leading industry experts will mark on taste, texture, appearance, and creativity.
Alex, who has been working at Oakman for more than four years, said: “I feel very proud to be representing Oakman Inns at the awards.
"I’ve been working with our pizzaioli and head chefs on refining our Esposito 75 Neapolitan pizza recipes and I feel as though I’m representing all the great pizzaioli who work for us and who make some of the best, traditional pizzas I’ve ever tasted."
The National Pizza Awards finals takes place at Islington Metal Works on Thursday, November 7.
Winners for the Best Technical Pizza, Pizza Chef of the Year and National Pizza of the Year will be announced at around 7pm. More information here:
