People are being encouraged to wear pink, don bunny ears and take to the streets at night for this year’s Hospice of St Francis Midnight Walk.

Registration is now open for the event on Saturday, June 28, which will see fundraisers complete an 11-mile circular walk from Hemel Hempstead to Berkhamsted or a shorter five mile journey.

The fun walk is all about celebrating, yet also has a very reflective tone offering the perfect opportunity to remember someone special and do something positive in their memory.

Now in its eighth year, organisers want to see familiar faces and new fundraisers joining in. The walk is open to everyone aged over 11.

Sponsorship will help ensure that the work of the charity, which cares for people with life-shortening illnesses, can continue. The hospice relies on public donations for 80 per cent of the £4.6 million it needs to run each year,

The Midnight Walk kicks off at 9.30pm at Hemel Hempstead School. Registration costs £20 per person, or £15 for under 18s, which includes a pink T-shirt, refreshments on the way, a medal and breakfast. Anyone who signs up before Monday, April 23 will receive a free pair of bunny ears.

Walker Amanda Wright said: “Words can’t say how proud my daughter Amber and I are that this June we’ll have taken part in five of the hospice’s walks. A couple of years ago we lost a dear friend who spent her final days at the hospice, so it makes our walking all the more poignant now. It truly is such a humbling and emotional, yet fun-filled event.  The atmosphere’s fantastic. It’s such an inspiring and deserving local cause.”

Head of community fundraising Harriet Karia said: “Go on, walk with us in a sea of pink, light up the streets with your bunny ears and we promise to give you a night to remember!” To sign up visit
