Plough and Dragon scraps Thai menu in favour of British cuisine under new management

A pub that served up Thai food and takeaways is undergoing refurbishment and will reopen its doors later this month with a new look and British menu.

Leverstock Green’s Plough and Dragon has been taken over by Inn Britain, which runs three other pubs all offering carvery and traditional pub grub.

Manager Emma Massingham said: “Pretty much all our food is made from scratch. All our desserts are the sort of desserts that your nan used to make, big portions and good value for money.

“We source our food locally and use a butcher from Leighton Buzzard. It is good old fashioned food.”

The pub in Leverstock Green Road, which is still owned by brewers Charles Wells, is undergoing refurbishment, to create a much lighter and brighter venue using pale blue, light green and cream colours.

New landlord Jason Tudor is originally from Hemel Hempstead himself and Emma said the pub was selected for it friendly residential location.

“It has great potential to do really well,” she said. “It is surrounded by chimney pots. All of our sites are in strong residential areas and I’m told that Leverstock Green is a lovely area.”

The pub will open on the evening of Wednesday, February 25.

Inn Britain runs three other pubs in Bletchley, Leighton Buzzard and Welwyn Garden City.
