Prizes have just been handed out to the people who raised the most sponsorship money from taking part in a charity fundraiser.
The annual Berkhamsted Walk – held this year on Sunday, May 12 – took in £6,000 for The Children’s Society.
Organiser Ann Browning said: “It really is wonderful, the way people keep supporting us.
“The committee is so grateful for the constant support we receive for this fundraiser, from our volunteers and from the people who take part.”
The individual who raised the most sponsorship money from taking part in the event – which included six-, 12- and 18-mile route options – was Dennis Casserley.
The 78-year-old completed the shortest route and got £341 from his family and friends. Meanwhile, Caroline Robinson and Victoria Toleman did the longest route and collected £421 for the good cause.
Caroline and Victoria collected the most money out of all walkers taking part in the event as a team.
Dennis was allowed to collect £100 worth of prizes from Bourne End’s The Complete Outdoors in return for his hardy fundraising.
Caroline and Victoria each got £50 worth of prizes from the shop.
It was the first time all three of them had taken part in the Berkhamsted Walk, which takes hikers down countryside paths all around the area.
Mrs Browning said: “All enjoyed the walk and are determined to take part again next year.”
