A SEARCH to find an ‘Independent Person’ to help keep politicians on the straight and narrow has so far yielded just one expression of interest.
Council bosses are seeking someone to help deal with complaints about councillors at Dacorum Borough Council and those on town and parish councils.
The role is unsalaried but expenses are paid, and involves around half a day’s work a month.
Steve Baker, solicitor to the council, said: “This role, a new national requirement, will play an important part in helping the council maintain high standards of conduct among its councillors.
“The Independent Person will also be involved in helping with any complaints about borough councillors or councillors of any of the parish and town councils.”
Candidates must be Dacorum residents with no connection to the council. Those tempted must work fast – the deadline is 5pm tomorrow (Wednesday).
