POLICE arrested 98 people in Herts for drink-driving during a June crackdown.

The figure equates to 14 per cent of all drivers who were stopped in the county last month on suspicion of the offence.

Arrests were made if drivers failed or refused breathalyser

This data was collected as part of the Enjoy Summer in Herts 2012 alcohol awareness campaign, run by Herts Constabulary.

The drink-drive campaign runs in June and December, when the crime is thought to be the most common.

It runs in collaboration with the Association of Chief Police Officers, the European Traffic Police Network and other police services across the country, in a nationwide clampdown on drink and drug driving.

If you know a drink-driver, call Herts Constabulary on 101 to let them know when and where they drink.

Police advise that if someone has been drinking and is about to drive always dial 999.
