Tesco hopes to start work on Bovingdon site this spring to create Express store and flats

Supermarket giant Tesco hopes to start work on its Bovingdon site this spring.

The firm has applied for extra time to create an Express neighbourhood store and eight flats on the former service station site in Chesham Road.

The supermarket chain, which has faced a backlash from the village’s independent traders, failed to get the project under way within the three year time span specified when planning permission was granted in January 2010.

The time extension is set to be signed off by planning officers at Dacorum Borough Council once a Section 106 agreement has been settled and a two year limit to implement the scheme is agreed.
