Town to become heart of comedy as comics visit

A COMEDY club will welcome well-known comedians to its stage this month.

Funny man Mitch Benn has been booked by Tring-based Get Stuffed to perform on January 29.

Club founder Ben Moorhouse said: “It is going to be a very small, intimate gig for a person of his stature. He is a person people have been asking me to get.”

He will join fellow comic John Moloney as both put on gigs at Tring Rugby Club and Berkhamsted Hockey Club before swapping over and will be compered by husband and wife team Mary J Bourke and Simon Clayton, who come from Chesham.

Guests can choose which venue they want to attend by ordering through the club’s website and tickets cost £15.

Meanwhile, Russell Kane is set to entertain crowds at The Court Theatre, Pendley, again on March 2 and several performers have been booked to appear in this year’s Tring Festival, which runs from July 1-23.

The festival, which is being held over a longer period, following the success of last year’s week-long event, will welcome the likes of Josh Widdicombe, Eric Lambaert, Simon Munnery, Matt Green, Josie Long and Jack Whitehall.

Lots of events for children are also organised, including adaptations of popular books and fairy tales.

Last year, youngsters flocked to see entertainers at Dolphin Square, Tring Library and Tring’s Natural History Museum.

Mr Moorhouse said the club is still looking to complete its line-up of four main sponsors for the event.
