A MOTORCYCLIST has been airlifted to hospital after a collision with a car.

Two land ambulances, a helicopter ambulance and police rushed to the scene in London Road, Bourne End, at about 1.30pm on Monday.

Police closed the road, and it was not reopened until three hours later.

Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “A man has sustained a significant leg injury and following treatment, stabilisation and immobilisation by the land and air crew paramedics, he was flown direct to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.”
