TRING councillors will go back to the drawing board on how to spend money given to the town to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
It only spent just over half of the £3,000 given to it by Dacorum Borough Council on beacon lighting celebrations, a bench and contributions towards street parties back in June.
A £100 donation by a well-wishing member of the public means that the council has a fair bit of cash to play with.
Suggestions have included an annual personality of the year award and a battle of the bands.
Mayor of Tring councillor Nick Hollinghurst said that the money will be spent by the end of the jubilee year.
He said:“It’s a question of how to put it to good use.
“It would have been better to spend the money by the actual Jubilee but our projects came in at a lower expense than expected.”
