Staff at Bishop Wood Church of England School are delighted it has been upgraded to an outstanding level in its Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools.
The school in Frogmore Street, Tring was judged good in 2008 by the board that assesses the values and Christian ethos at the school.
Headteacher Linda Hardman was pleased with the result.
She said: “The school is delighted to have been awarded an outstanding judgement, which reflects the efforts of all the staff, children, parents and governors to articulate, celebrate and embed the school’s Christian values which shines as a beacon in the area that it serves.”
She explained that the school community had become more evaluative and also more reflective in its practises since the 2008 inspection.
One of the improvements made was encouraging pupils to evaluate their collective worship.
