Two taken to hospital after two-vehicle smash on the Hemel Hempstead Road in Redbourn

Two people were taken to hospital after a collision between two vehicles on the Hemel Hempstead Road in Redbourn on Sunday evening.

One had to be rescued from the wreckage by firefighters using cutting equipment, and two others were given first aid at the scene.

On Sunday evening Herts Fire and Rescue Service reported on social networking website Twitter that three fire engines and a Rescue Support Unit attended the smash.

But police spokesman Daniel Atkinson said this afternoon that after a silver Ford Focus was in collision with a Peugeot at about 7.25pm the people involved only suffered slight injuries. The road was reopened at 9.20pm.
