Herts Police were one of three forces across the country assisting in the search for a missing man last night.

Leicestershire Police contacted the team at Herts at around 10,30pm, after concerns were raised by the family of a man last known to be in Hemel Hempstead.

The family, from the midlands, had reported him missing and a helicopter search was sparked over the town.

Officers and police dog units were also in force across Hemel Hempstead in the hope of tracing the man, but he is now believed to be in the London area.

The search was passed to the Metropolitan Police to continue, and the man was found safe and well at his home address in Holloway this morning.
