Video vox Pop: Would you back laws allowing terminally ill people to get help to end their lives?

Videographer Natalee Hazelwood spoke to people in Hemel Hempstead town centre about assisted suicide... and filmed their answers.

Julie McManus, Bovingdon

‘Yes, I think I do, because at the end of the day it is down to the individuals’ choice. But it is a very hard question.’

Michelle Johnson, Adeyfield

‘Yes, 100%. I think people should be able to choose what they do. If I was in that situation I would rather be able to choose what I wanted to do rather than be forced to live when I didn’t want to.’

Micheal Wheals, Bennetts End

‘Yes I would do, why allow them to suffer when we have these controlled measures, we can give these people the support they may require and help them rather than suffer.’

Belinda Parsons, shops in Hemel Hempstead:

‘I think vulnerable people would be persuaded to end their lives and they really haven’t thought about it. I think it opens up the doors to abuse.’

Bob Tasker, shops in Hemel Hempstead:

‘I don’t believe anybody should take anybody’s life, we should die through natural causes. My wife died of lung cancer and she disagreed with it. She suffered but now she is in peace.’
