A winning application to The Wolfson Foundation has seen the Natural History Museum in Tring successfully scoop a £75,960 grant.

The museum in Akeman Street plans to use the cash to revamp The Rothschild Room, which is set out as aVictorian office designed to resemble that used by the museum’s original curators and its founder Lord Rothschild.

The Wolfson Foundation is a charity dedicated to supporting excellence in a range of different areas, including science and medicine.

Current curator Paul Kitching said: “This grant means we now have the funding to redevelop the look and the feel of one of our oldest galleries.

“We’ll be looking to increase the number of insect and bird specimens on display as well as the amount of archive material, including letters and photographs.”

Work on the project is yet to start and the opening date for the free exhibition still to be confirmed, but details will be published on
