Vandals scratched bizarre words and letters into numerous cars as part of a criminal damage spree last week.
The offenders scratched letters and words into the bodywork of six vehicles in Sawyers Way, Adeyfield, between Tuesday and Wednesday, March 10 and 11.
The initials CIE, PIES, FEBAL, CWEL and PSYCHO were engraved deeply into the bodywork, with both cars and vans targeted.
During the same time, the wing mirrors of two vehicles were damaged in nearby Old House Road and Driftway.
Safer Neighbourhood Team PC Viktoria Milsome said: “This is a lovely neighbourhood with residents living there for many years with no trouble.
“The residents are astounded that this has happened and have no idea who would have done this to them.

“The scratches are so deep that the victims will have to have major work done to rectify the damage caused. This type of behavior will not be tolerated and we will work tirelessly to find the person responsible so the victims can see justice done.
“I would ask anyone who has information about who did this to come forward. I’d also like to hear from anyone who believes they saw someone acting suspiciously that night to also contact police.”
Anyone with any information in relation to these incidents is urged to call PC Milsome via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
