A selection of the opportunities available this week through Volunteer Centre Dacorum.

Keech Hospice Care needs volunteers for its new charity shop in Lower Kings Road, Berkhamsted.

The shop will be opening for the first time in the new year so this is your chance to be part of something brand new.

The money raised by Keech charity shops helps to provide vital support for children with life limiting illnesses and their families.

It costs around £750 for a child to spend 24 hours in an inpatient unit and £120 for a community visit.

Your efforts as a shop volunteer will make a real difference to children’s lives.

As part of this friendly team, you could be sorting donations of clothing, books or bric-a-brac, steaming clothes in the back room or serving customers.

The lower age limit is usually 15 but students on the Duke of Edinburgh scheme may apply aged 14.

Times can be arranged to suit individuals and expenses offered.

Warners End Community Centre hosts popular tea dances on the third Thursday of every month from 12.45pm until 4.45pm.

Participants enjoy a bit of old fashioned ballroom, some good company and a delicious afternoon tea.

A volunteer is needed to collect entrance fees and to shop for and prepare refreshments. Experience of food preparation and a food handling certificate would be an advantage.

Do you have a few hours to spare on Saturday afternoons? Why not join the Shopmobility team of volunteers in the Marlowes Centre car park and help disabled people to get about town.

Tasks include helping on reception, completing paperwork, handling money, training people to drive the electric vehicles and generally making visitors feel welcome and relaxed.

The right volunteer will have good people skills and the confidence to deal the variety of tasks.
